Over het project<\/h2>\n

De klas van het 5de jaar lager onderwijs is sinds vorig jaar verantwoordelijk voor het compostproject van de school. Elke dag verzamelen twee leerlingen het organisch afval tijdens de speeltijd (schillen, klokhuizen, enz.). Aangezien als tussendoortje enkel fruit en groenten worden toegelaten op school, is dat niet moeilijk te vinden.<\/p>\n

Nadien gieten ze het verzamelde \u2018groene\u2019 afval in de compostbakken en plaatsen ze er dode bladeren en houtschaafsel bij: dit is het \u2018bruine\u2019 afval.<\/p>\n

Dan laten ze de dieren de rest van het werk doen. Pieren, pissebedden, duizendpoten en bacteri\u00ebn zetten het afval om in compost, een natuurlijke meststof. Dit neemt ongeveer 6 maanden in beslag.<\/p>\n

Het voordeel van een compost is dat de school geen aarde meer hoeft te kopen voor haar moestuin. Ze kunnen de verkregen compost gebruiken om er groenten op te telen. Bovendien zullen ze minder vuilniszakken moeten kopen omdat ze minder afval produceren. Composteren op school is niet enkel een leerrijke en plezierige activiteit, het is ook een manier geld om te besparen!<\/p>\n
